Wolfi’s Helicopter View of London…

September 29, 2008

On Saturday Ali & I took a fantastic helicopter ride over central London all along the Thames river from the Dome all along to West London…what an amazing experience - and a clear confirmation that this IS the greatest city in this world… (Thanks to all our London leaders for this fantastic “visionary” gift at our leaders end of year celebration last December).

Ready to fly…

This is your captain speaking…

Or is this the captain…

There’s over a thousand years of history down there… the Romans were most likely paddling up this river at about the same time that their countrymen were crucifuying Jesus in Jerusalem…

And there’s the modern stuff too…The Millenium Dome, and the site for the 2012 Olympics in the background…

As Lyndon Johnson said:If a man is tired of London, a man is tired of life; For in London there is all that life affords”

Letter to London…

September 27, 2008

Tomorrow I start a new series at church called “Letter to London” – preaching through the whole book of Ephesians to discover its awesome rich truth and wisdom for life in London today… we start with chapter 1v1-6

I cant begin to tell you how my understanding and applying the Bible to my life for the last 25 years of being  a born again Christ follower has blessed me. It is an awesome book, and when I made the shift to understand that it was intended to be “from God to me,”  my life was awesomely changed.

Ephesians is filled with rich truth and life application, so join me on this journey of discovery… How about reading through the book yourself in one sitting, and then slowly going through it a few verses at a time daily for as long as it takes. It will refresh and strengthen your faith HUGELY. Remember: Faith comes by hearing the Word, but faith also goes when you neglect the Word. Let the next season be a season of faith coming, being strengthened, and being refreshed!

PS – Whats your favourite/most meaningful verse/part of Ephesians? Why not leave it as a comment below? Or maybe you have a question from Ephesians – ask it and I’ll try my best to respond.

This is a now-time in history for the Church and Christians to SHINE – and we believe that many will be encouraged and activated over these two special conference days.

15 years in London today…

September 4, 2008

Today is exactly 15 years since Ali & I arrived here in London with our “two backpacks and a vision” on Sept 4th 1993.  We’d never been here before, and knew no-one.  It certainly wasn’t exactly a great model for successful church planting! what planet were we on!

Hebrews 6:11-12

And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

But here we are – its been an awesome God-adventure and we are fully convinced that the best days lie ahead. there’s no reason why the next year shouldn’t be the most fruitful yet. What we have learnt is that God is faithful.  I pray that our story will in some little way encourage you to persevere in your own faith adventure. It takes faith, PLUS patience…
A huge thank you to everyone over these years who has parnered with us in so many ways on this journey.
PS – if you are or were part of  Every Nation London (or His People London as we used to be), why not leave us a comment below sharing your most memorable moment, or what it meant to you?
